Chiroprators aren't really doctors
A chiropractor must graduate high school, have at least 2 years of college, and 4 to 5 years at an accredited chiropractic college to earn the degree 'Doctor of Chiropractic'. Chiropractic courses include basic and advanced anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, diagnosis, radiology, orthopedics, neurology, nutrition, and public health. Chiropractors fulfill an internship, and must pass a state licensing exam, or the exam of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Chiropractics are specialists in the body, and how it works. This qualifies them with the title of doctor.
Chiropractors only deal with back pain
Every part of the body is connected to the nervous system in some way. Chiroprators are experts on the nervous system, and know exactly which body function is associated with each spinal vertebra. We treat the whole person.
Chiropractors are anti-drug.
Many people think that because we do not prescribe drugs, that we are anti-drug, this is not so. We believe in the rational use of medication. There are circumstances where drug therapy is the most effective, and necessary means, but we do not believe that drugs are the answer for every medical condition. We prefer natural, non-invasive alternatives. It is better to eliminate the cause of the problem than to mask it. In instances when we feel you would benefit from medication, or other procedures, we recommend it.
Adjustments are just massages
A spinal examination tells us exactly which vertebrae are functioning abnormally, and which adjustment technique would best suit the situation. These adjustments ease the spine back to its normal function and range of motion. Massages are good for soothing muscles. Adjustments are made to correct abnormal conditions in the spine.
